Sometimes you just want to take in a little more of the scenery after your flight. I mean, you did travel all the way to Newport Beach to jetpack,
so why not splurge a little more? I’m not taking about a full-on dinner in a tux, but sometimes it’s nice to know where some of the nice “sit
back, relax and enjoy the sunset” type of restaurants are. Here are our top picks for a delicious waterfront dinning Newport Beach experience
that is close to our flight location:
1) The Cannery: Seafood of the Pacific
Located right down the street from the Jetpack America office, sits this lovely restaurant
with an ocean view, nestled right in the harbor on the water. This local, upscale hot spot has one of the best happy hours in town. Between 4
and 6:30pm everyday, you can get 50% off their lounge menu items, and $2 off all cocktails! As you walk up the stairs, you are welcomed by colorful
jellyfish sculptures hanging from the ceiling. There’s also a tank with live lobster so you can “Hi!” to your potential future dinner, if that
tickles your fancy. The history of the restaurant goes back 90 years, and to this day and they believe in serving the best seafood available on the
market.
Now if you are going to be a spectator during your friend or family member’s jetpack
experience, you’ll want to grab a table at Billy’s! This place has such a fun and welcoming, or should I say aloha, atmosphere that it would
be impossible to not have a good time! If you are in the mood for a cocktail, no one makes a better Mai Tai than the friendly bartenders at Billy’s.
They have a great patio with plenty of seating, and their restaurant is located right in front of our flying area in the turning basin, so you’ll be
able to see your jetpacker perfectly!
If you are looking for an extra laid back vibe, but still want top notch seafood, than
you need to get ready to sit down at Joe’s crab shack. Silverware is in a bucket on the table and your waitress provides you with a bib to tuck
into your shirt. Prepare to get messy! This restaurant has absolutely mastered the art of crab boiling. You’ll be served a large pot with everything
from corn to King Crab legs already cooked so all you need to do is dig in. Their restaurant is also located near our jetpack flying area, so
you can also witness fellow jetpackers having the times of their lives too!
