(REBLOG FROM FLYDIVE.COM)
SAN DIEGO, CA, March 22, 2017 – FlyDive, a leading hydroflight lifestyle company, which manufactures the X-Board hydroflight device, operates rental flight centers and produces world-class hydroflight shows and events, today announced the acquisition of SoCal Hydrosports and AquaFlyboarding, sister companies offering hydroflight experience rentals and product sales in Southern California and Arizona, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2012 as AquaFlyboarding and later expanded into SoCal Hydrosports when the business began offering Jetovator water jetbike rentals in addition
to the Flyboard jetboard, SoCal Hydrosports was one of the pioneers in the emerging hydroflight industry, providing rentals at Lake Elsinore and Lake
Perris in California and Parker in Arizona. Due to their proximity to FlyDive subsidiary Jetpack America’s locations in San Diego, California and Pahrump,
Nevada, the SoCal Hydrosports locations will be closed and all customers will be redirected to the appropriate Jetpack America facility. Website properties
have been redirected to a landing page on the Jetpack America website with important
information on the acquisition.
According to owner Charlene Lewis, SoCal Hydrosports’ goal is to bring hydroflight experiences to the mass market of recreational watersports enthusiasts,
but also to nurture the competitive side of the sport, with two of her employees, Jordan Finley and Chase Finley, becoming top-tier competitive jetboard
and jetbike competitors and sponsored riders for various equipment manufacturers. Several of SoCal Hydrosports’ regular customers have begun training
at the Jetpack America San Diego location and are excited to try out the jetpack, which was previously not available to them as an option. Merging
the companies’ customer lists will increase the overall count to over 35,000, thereby creating greater reach opportunity and efficiencies within the
overall operation.
Jetpack America president Dean O’Malley stated about the acquisition, “I had the opportunity to travel to Thailand on a hydroflight movie shoot with Jordan
and Chase in 2015 and I worked very closely with Charlene on the planning and preparation for the Hydro-Fest competition and expo we held at our Pahrump,
Nevada location in June of 2016, so I know the SoCal Hydrosports family very well. By combining the operations, we’re confident we’ll be able to provide
a better overall experience to the hydroflight enthusiasts and newcomers over the coming years.”
This marks the third acquisition by FlyDive in the first three months of 2017, demonstrating the company’s desire to grow its portfolio of products, services
and patent portfolio. FlyDive acquired Jetpack America in January, Aquafly in February and now SoCal Hydrosports and AquaFlyboarding in March. FlyDive
CEO Christos Nicolaidis stated, “Our company is focused on long-term strategic growth within the hydroflight industry, so acquisitions of like-minded
and well-positioned companies position us well to execute on our future plans. We have quickly built a reputation of integrity and trust within the
industry, so we expect to form more long-term relationships with the top players in the hydroflight and broader lifestyle industries. We’re very excited
by the recent trajectory of the company and we look forward to sharing many more exciting announcements throughout 2017.”
All operations will merge over the 2017 season. All inquiries related to SoCal Hydrosports or AquaFlyboarding should be directed to Jetpack America at
