In May of 2011, John Morris took his daughter Katie Morris to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to fly the Jetlev R200 Jet Pack at the Jetlev Headquarters. What started out as a father/daughter bonding trip soon turned into a business. Both enjoyed the hydro jet pack flying experience so much they decided to become a distributor of the Jetlev Jet Pack and set up a flight school in Newport Beach. They brought on partners Chis Herman and Ryan Eastman, owners of West Coast Yachts and, within a month, they opened Jetpack America. (formerly known as Jetlev Southwest), as an international distributor of Jetlev, an authorized flight center and training academy.
In September of 2011, Katie Morris recruited her college friend Dean O'Malley to work as the President of Jetpack America. With Dean on board, the jet pack company skyrocketed and has been growing steadily ever since, with locations in Newport Beach, San Diego and now Las Vegas.
With over 15,000 customer flights in the books across the various locations and rave reviews coming from all over the world, the sky's the limit for the Jetpack America team. Come fly with us!!
Like many people out there, I've always been drawn to adventurous activities that allow me to get airborne, whether it's jumping from a plane, snowboarding off a cliff or strapping a jetpack to my back. Through some amazing luck and good timing, I've been given the chance to live my dream of combining my love of flight with my business background. Since Jetpack America is still a very young company, I wear many hats, from Certified Flight Instructor to Social Media Rep to Marketing Manager, but my primary job is to help the world see just how much fun it is to fly a jetpack. My biggest satisfaction comes from the countless happy customers who come to me with positive feedback from their flights and rave reviews of all of our Jetpack America staff members.
Hi, I'm one of the instructors here at Jetpack America. I'm originally from Virginia, but have been traveling around searching for the endless summer. Outside of work you can find me working on my veggie powered van and surfing the local waves. If you'd like to come fly a jetpack, I'm your man. I've dreamed of flying my whole life and finally here's an opportunity to fly, hover, and soar in a safe way. My favorite tricks are Donut Turns because you can really feel the g-forces as you're flying horizontal above the water! My second favorite? No handed hovers! Come out and I'll teach you everything I know!
I have been a water sports enthusiast my whole life, and have to give a huge shout out to Mom and Dad for making it all possible. Born and raised in North Carolina it all started with skiing, wakeboarding, sailing, etc. but now I happily add JETPACKING to the resume. The best part of my job is working with an epic team of people to help any and everyone experience the phenomenon that is human flight.
Hi, the name is Claude Mokbel. I'm a proud member of the Jetpack America team. Born and raised in beautiful Orange County, I spent many summer days hanging out on the beach catching sun rays and splashing in the ocean, so it was only right for me to fall into the hands of this wonderful team. I'm an avid flyer of the Jetlev and have never felt more free than when I am up in the air soaring above the homes on the harbor. This is my first "real job", so I'm forever grateful to have been given the opportunity to prove my abilities, while maintaining my sense of humor and fun in this casual atmosphere. My bosses as well as coworkers are all one of a kind, so if you decide to fly with us you will definitely have a great experience. My favorite part of the work day is that initial smile that springs onto a customers face when they first take flight. If you would like to know more of my story and share some of yours, I would love to listen; book a flight and come have a chat. Thanks for reading! See you in the sky!
Growing up in Laguna Niguel about 20 minutes away, I have always been near the ocean and I cannot remember one summer I haven't spent on the water here in sunny Southern California. I thought skydiving was a fun until I flew with Jetpack America. I love spending my day soaring the Newport skies and teaching other people how to fly. It's priceless seeing the reaction on people's faces as they try to grasp the concept when they hear I fly jetpacks for a living.
Coming from a family of art and racing with one side oil painters and chefs, the other racing cars and motorcycles in Singapore, I find my deepest passion lies in cooking and racing cars, learning at a young age many of the classic French cooking techniques and spending my later years racing cars at race tracks near Los Angeles. Aside from that, I enjoy hunting, riding horses, sailing, walking dogs, free diving, snorkeling, spearfishing, bodysurfing, surfing, tennis and traveling.
I encourage everyone to grab their wildest instincts and put them to the test in our Jetpacks. Something this fun shouldn't warrant any second thought, so suit up, strap in and take to the skies!
Kevin Harris - Flight Center Manager (Las Vegas)

I love all action sports, I grew up riding dirt bikes and still nothing compares to flying high on the jetpack! If your on the edge about coming and jetpacking don't think about it come out here and we will get you in the sky! If your in the Las Vegas area and you want to jump into a nice refreshing lake and fly a jetpack give us a call!
Hey There! I'm Tabitha and I am a transplant from Austin, TX. I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Somehow I was lucky enough to find my way to sunny San Diego. It is safe to say that I now have the best job in the world as a Flight Instructor and Jetpack Pilot at Jetpack America. "What do you do, Tabitha?- Oh, I fly jetpacks for a living". In addition to working at Jetpack America, I'm also a TV Reporter at San Diego 6 News, a sponsored scuba diver under Body Glove, and a writer for Cruising Outpost. I love meeting new people and I travel as much as I can outside my several jobs. Like many of my fellow employees, I'm an adrenaline junkie and love pushing the limits. My #1 goal is to make sure you have an amazing time when you decide to become a Jetpack Pilot yourself. Come fly with me! If nothing else, let's keep up on Instagram and Twitter: @tabithalipkin
Hey, I'm Jon! Originally from California, I've lived in Oregon for the last 20 years. I recently returned home, to paradise! Adventure is a must for me! Some of my best memories are climbing waterfalls in Jamaica, zip lining in Mexico, and ice climbing in New Zealand. My biggest passion though is flight! I'm a licensed skydiver, get into the wind tunnels whenever I can, and am fascinated by anything in the aviation industry. So naturally, flying a jetpack is right up my alley! The first time I saw it, I knew it was something I had to try. The first time I did it, I knew it was something I had to keep doing and master (I have a little work to do on that second part...) I'm so fortunate to be able to work at Jetpack America. When I first started here, I was immediately struck by the amazing atmosphere, especially by how much my coworkers really love what they do, and how they spread their enthusiasm to everyone who comes by, whether to fly or just watch. I mean, who can blame them? You can't beat getting out in the sun and water, meeting great people, and flying a jetpack to boot! I love seeing people get the hang of flying, and the huge smiles on their faces that I know are going to last for a lot longer than just their flight time! So come on out and give it a shot, you won't be disappointed! See you out there!
I am a graduate from Chapman University with a degree in International Business and Spanish. I am originally from the Bay Area and have tons of roots in Southern California. I have also lived in Oregon as well as Spain and I currently live in Newport Beach. From as far back as I can remember I’ve had a liking for sports. I played just about every one of them growing up and continued playing baseball and football in college. I also did my fair share of extreme sports at a young age, like surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, cliff jumping, and plenty more, so it’s not by accident that I find myself working for Jetpack America. The best part about my job is, well, everything, because I fly jetpacks for a living. My favorite thing to do on the Jetlev is crash! Sure, doing 360’s, submarines and donut turns are fun, but nothing is more exhilarating than diving from 30 feet in the air!
Thanks for taking interest in our "Meet the Staff" page!! Hopefully I'll get to meet you once you come out to fly the World's First Jetpack with us! My name is Alexa Bilek and I am a recent graduate from the University of Colorado where I majored in Environmental Science, emphasis in Climate and Energy, and minored in Business Management. I was actively apart of Boulder Freeride, the ski and snowboard club on campus, so my weekends constantly consisted of cinching down my ski boots and stomping into my double planks in the winter. My California roots never left me though! I still love going out to the ocean or the river where I can get behind a boat and wakeboard, tube, or wakesurf. I also love offroading, scuba diving, hiking, surfing, fishing, and pretty much anything else that has to do with the great outdoors! My dad took me to Jetpack America to come fly the jetpack with him last summer when I was visiting from College, and I absolutely LOVED IT!! I loved it soo much in fact, that when I moved back to California after graduating, I contacted Jetpack America and asked if they had any opening positions. And well, the rest ishistory!! Whether you are an adrenaline junkie, like me, or you want to step out of your comfort zone and try something new, we'll help you get up in the air and fly like a superhero here at Jetpack America!
Andi Bishop - Instructor Assistant/Office Rep (Las Vegas)
Hi, I'm Andi! I am originally from Willow, Alaska. I moved to Nevada in December of 2010, and I absolutely love it here! I'm not yet finished with high school. I'd like to study sports medicine in college. I'm a pretty competitive person. I am an adrenaline junkie, I love riding dirt bikes and quads, playing sports and going on outdoor adventures, so of course I love working for Jetpack America! What really makes it awesome is that almost everyone is in a great mood when they come fly with us because they're so excited to fly a Jetpack! I like meeting people from all over the world and learning about what kind of adventurous stuff different people have done! And on top of that I get to go to work in my bathing suit and fly a Jetpack, a job doesn't get better than this! Bring your family and friends to fly a Jetpack with you, it's such a great experience and I guarantee that you won't regret it!
Nate Sinisgalli - Flight Center Manager (San Diego)
Hi, I'm Nate. I'm the Manager of Jetpack America San Diego. I'm originally from Bend, Oregon and moved to San Diego about 5 years ago in search of warmer waves and weather. I started at Jetpack America in 2013 and quickly realized that it was a company worth staying at. I'm extremely fortunate to be working alongside a wonderful staff that prides themselves in their customer service and will do anything to make each customers experience an unforgettable one. Charlie Noebel - Instructor Assistant (Newport Beach)
Hey there! I have lived in Orange County my entire life. I am 20 years old and am currently a junior at the University of Oregon where I am a journalism major. I am also a member of the mens basketball team at the University. I spend all my summers either down at the beach or on the docks of the harbor. I am in the water surfing or bodysurfing almost every morning. Along with surfing I also skate, mountain bike and snowboard. I have driven boats my entire life but never had the opportunity to fly a jetpack until I got hired here! Flying a jetpack is an experience unlike any other and the excitement I get from it cannot be put into words. I encourage everybody to try it at least once in his or her life. You will not regret it! See you soon!
Benton Carpenter - Instructor Assistant (Newport Beach)
Hey I’m Benton Carpenter, a 20 year old Newport Beach native. I’ve spent my entire life in the water. Whether I am surfing, swimming, or playing water polo, I can’t get enough of it. I’m currently studying winemaking at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, so if you need help picking out the right varieties for your next dinner party, I’m your man. The best part of my day is seeing the faces of all of our first time pilots when they first get up in the air. I love what I do and I’m sure you will love your time with Jetpack America as well. Can’t wait to see you out there!
Max Stiegler - Instructor Assistant (Newport Beach)
Hello, future Superheroes! I am Max and am a certified EMT for the state of California. I seek adventure and thrilling environments which reflects my passion for pursuing a career in the fire service and a love for water sports such as jet-packing, jet-skiing, body-surfing, and free diving. Dylan Hooker - Instructor Assistant (Newport Beach)
Hello, My name is Dylan and I am one of the newest additions to the Jetpack America team. I’m an east coast transplant from Maryland. I’ve lived on the west coast now for 14 years and don’t plan on going back anytime soon. I lived in Seattle for a couple years and the rest here in sunny Newport Beach, CA. I grew up on the water back east boating, jet skiing, skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, crabbing basically anything on the water you name it. I am a graduate from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC with a degree in Business and Computer Science. I have always enjoyed being outdoors and being on the water so finding this job was a dream come true. I have always been very active in sports playing football and lacrosse growing up and continuing to play lacrosse through college where we went on to win three conference championships and an NCAA Division II National Championship.
On the side I love to cook, I am a culinary school graduate still working in the industry and have worked in several restaurants in the Newport area so when you come fly with us we can have some great foodie conversations. See you soon, thanks for visiting our site!
Val Taboada - Instructor Assistant (Newport Beach)
Hi hello I am currently studying Political Science and History at the University of California Irvine. I was raised in Sanger, a small agricultural town in the middle of the San Joaquin Valley where country music is loved by all. Growing up I spent a lot of my time in Yosemite and Sequoia National Park either camping, hiking, or swimming. I find the outdoors to be both exciting and peaceful making it the perfect place to be. I starting acting at the age of six and have grown to love the arts especially the theatre. I decided to move to Southern California for the weather and the beach and it has been one of my best decisions so far. Working at Jetpack America has been a complete surprise for me. I absolutely love the environment because the team is a blast to be around and is always ready to have a great day. My favorite part about working here is meeting extremely diverse customers who enter the door with the perfect balance of nerves and excitement ready to fly.
Jesse Orlando - Certified Flight Instructor (San Diego)
They told me I couldn’t fly… How’s your desk job, now? Since I joined the team in 2014, I've looked to the sky for guidance. A born and raised Bostonian, I found myself on the left coast in 2010, and decided winter wasn’t all that necessary. After establishing a home base, I needed a profession to match my epic move: Enter Jetpack America. Before my time with jetpack, I pursued a career in youth development. Ive worked with summer camps across the US, taught snowboarding internationally, and currently supervise an aquatic recreation program for kids and teens. Since the introduction of the Tandem Jetpack, Ive been given the opportunity to provide kids with an amazing experience while soaring through the air like a superhero. Seamless fusion. What more could you need?
Thomas O'Malley - Instructor Assistant (San Diego)
I am a relative newcomer to the team here. After I graduated from Penn State I was living at home in Philadelphia running a business as a painting contractor and hating nearly every minute of it. At the end of February 2015 I packed up my truck and drove across the country with no job prospects and nothing but a space of floor at a buddy’s house where I first stayed on an air mattress. Determined to find a job that I wouldn’t be miserable at I typed in “jet ski” on the Craigslist jobs site and stumbled upon Jetpack America by sheer luck. Fate was very kind that day. This job has been a dream come true for me. My love of the ocean, beach, and everywhere outdoors brought me out to San Diego and now I get to make a living standing out in the bay all day helping people have the time of their lives. I’m always looking for my next thrill and I have definitely found it with the Jetpack. I’m hoping to eventually earn my instructor certification and for now I’m just having a blast learning and improving my flying.
Lindsey Cassell - Instructor Assistant/Office Rep (Newport Beach)
Hi, I'm Lindsey and I'm from a little town called Claremont, CA. Right now, I spend most of my time at UC Irvine studying business administration and psychology when I'm not flying with Jetpack America. I'm part of a sorority on campus and I also work for the office of admissions (come take my campus tour!). In my spare time I love hitting the gym, but I love visiting local restaurants just as much. I live for new restaurant suggestions--if you have any I'd love to hear them! Being born and raised in southern California, I've been around the water my whole life. I grew up doing all kinds of water sports: swimming, water polo, wakeboarding, etc. When I found out about jetpacking, I knew I had to try it. It's an awesome experience, and the friendly staff makes it even better!
Matt Scherer - Instructor Assistant (San Diego)
I'm a Southern California native and adventure is what I live for! I grew up riding BMX, Motor Cross, snowboarding, water skiing, surfing, to flipping off anything I could climb up. I am without a doubt a thrill seeking adrenaline junkie! My passion for living a fun exciting life has lead me through some awesome adventures. Since I graduated from high school in 2003, I've worked at a drop zone packing parachutes and skydiving, as an acrobat and stuntman in a live show, and as a wakeboard instructor and speed boat driver. I also worked at one of the best ski resorts in Utah and got over 100 days of snowboarding in for two straight winters. Being a part of the Jetpack America flight crew is by far one of the most fulfilling jobs I've ever had! This is a dream job that I'm planning on turning into a career. Sharing this sport with our customers and being a part of their Jetpack adventure makes my day! Come fly with us and have a blast!
Ryan Naumann - Certified Flight Instructor (Newport Beach)
An East Coaster born and raised but lived in Los Angles almost half my life. Always a water baby and an adrenaline junkie, I fell in love with jetpacking after the first flight and wanted to be a part of the team, even if it meant hoofing it all the way down from LA!
You can find me behind the throttle on the weekends. In LA I spend my time writing and animating, and I’ve been designing most of the newest Jetpack America graphics.
